Perry Bike Skills Park | Dirt bumps, humps and traffic signs for budding two-wheelers

Enjoy a coffee while the kids tear around this custom-built bike park on their BMXs, balance bikes and trikes.

The Perry Bike Skills Park was designed in association with BMX stars Paul Langlands and Kurt James, and caters to newly minted trikers and more confident riders.

There are two main areas at the park; the asphalt area teaches kids about road safety and has mini traffic lights, while the main area has a variety of dirt trails for various skill levels. Each grade is well signposted. A raised boardwalk near the perimeter adds a little ‘risk’ factor for younger kids to this outing and makes a cool sound with trikes!

The park borders a former quarry and there’s a small outdoor gym, petrol station, cafe and a handful of retail stores available.

Extend your adventure Nearby is the Te Awa River Ride where you can head north to Ngāruawāhia or south to central Hamilton for a longer adventure in the saddle.

Grade: Range of options for all skill levels from beginners to more confident kids.
Location: Head north on Te Rapa Road. The service station and bike park is on the corner of Hutchinson Road and Te Rapa Road before the SH1  interchange.
